[ 1:35PM ] [ monkey ] [ Lund International Fantastic Film Festival ]

The Legend of Crazy George has applied to:

Lund International Fantastic Film Festival,
Sept 16-25,2005

Scandinavia’s largest film festival for Fantastic Film

http://www.fff.se/english/index.htm

Welcome to Lund International Fantastic Film Festival! Each year during 10 days in September, Lund, the idyllic city of southern Sweden, becomes a meeting place for film-audiences, film-business and filmmakers from all over the world. Here everyone is offered a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the best and the latest within fantastic cinema. In addition the festival offers lectures, exhibitions and other festivities in connection with fantastic film.

Fantastic film is usually used as a collective term for film genres like science fiction, fantasy and horror. But Lund International Fantastic Film Festival (FFF) does not set narrow limits for what can be screened at the festival. In short fantastic cinema is about imagination. The aim of the festival is to help stretch the limits of the imagination, and to reinforce the intrinsic value of imagination in films. Fantastic film is very popular among the cinemagoers. Of the 20 all time greatest box-office successes in the world, 18 are fantastic films, for example Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Spider-Man and E.T. But FFF also screens films by critics' favorites as for instance Hal Hartley, Michael Winterbottom and Takashi Miike.

Since the inception in 1995, close to 500 films from more than 30 countries have been screened at Lund International Fantastic Film Festival, both shorts and feature films. The majority of the films screened thereby also receive their Swedish premiere. FFF was for example first in Sweden to screen modern classics like Face/Off, Donnie Darko, A Tale of Two Sisters and Casshern. Sometimes the festival focuses on different directors (Shinya Tsukamoto, Peter Jackson, Brian Yuzna), interesting countries (Hong Kong, Korea, Spain) or specific themes (Japanese Anime, the tales of Astrid Lindgren). Special focus is always though on the European continent, which contributes with at least 70% of the films of the festival, and FFF is accordingly member of two important networks for the promotion of European cinema: European Coordination of Film Festivals and European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation. Together with the latter, Lund International Fantastic Film Festival is hosting one of its several international competitive sections, the Méliès Competition.

Ah, The Legend of Crazy George. If you are reading this before you watch the movie you are wasting your time...quit being a wuss and just watch the movie and make up your own mind. You may not like it, but regardless it is worth the experience. I personally can't write too much about it due to it's unclassifiable nature. It just is. Scary? Maybe to some. Twisted? Most definitely anyone would say this movie is that. And I guess that is why I like it and own a copy. And believe it or not, there is some damn fine acting in this movie as well. And hey, what is a horror film without a gratuitous nude scene? Just a horror film. The Legend of Crazy George is the only horror film I've seen that combines a great nude scene with...well you'll just have to see the movie...wouldn't want to get blacklisted my first day on this site for spoiling a good scene.

A sweaty, steamy fever dream, 16 June 2005

The Legend of Crazy George is a campy trip through the decadent rural south, with memorable characters, locations and situations that drive the story forward, and create a surreal and terrifying world. There is fine acting all around, and the secondary characters are genuine and compelling. the pacing fits the story, and there are some brilliant and effective uses of downtime. The atmosphere of the rural south is captured so well that you'll sweat while watching the film, and feel like bathing afterward. the story is meandering puzzle, and by the end, George Furman has created a unique and twisted universe just slightly askew from reality.

[ 12:06PM ] [ monkey ] [ The Atlanta UNDERGROUND Film Festival ]

THE LEGEND OF CRAZY GEORGE HAS APPLIED TO:
The Atlanta UNDERGROUND Film Festival
August 25 - 29, 2005

http://www.auff.org

AWARDS
Although the art of filmmaking is not competitive, The Atlanta Underground Film Festival does give awards. The festival jury will present awards to films and videos selected as best in these categories: Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Experimental, Animation, and "Made in Atlanta". An Audience Choice award will also be presented.

The First Annual Atlanta Underground Film Festival is a
forum where independent film, music, and art can thrive outside
the mainstream arena. Those who continuously break the
boundaries of film, video, art and music are promoted through our
festival, so they too may have a voice in a market which is typically
saturated with commercial entertainment designed for the masses.

The event is produced by WellFair, an Atlanta based, not for profit
artists organization. The organization specializes in promoting
cultural awareness and enjoyment of all art forms at free monthly
events which highlight emerging artists worldwide. Since August
2002, WellFair has showcased hundreds of independent films,
visual and performance artists, bands and DJ's at monthly events
in Atlanta, Georgia, and our seasonal "Best Of WellFair" festival in
Brooklyn, New York. WellFair also screened selected films at
Dahlonega International Film Festival, Music Midtown 2003, and
most recently co-produced the First Annual Kid's Film Festival of
Atlanta at SciTrek Museum. WellFair opens it's arms to all talent:
producers, filmmakers, actors, indie film organizations, festival
organizers, musicians, and visual and performance artists of every
type. The success of the organization comes from the sheer
untapped well of creative talent who are willing to produce simply
for art's sake.

This years festival will feature local, national, and international
films and videos in conjunction with festival dinners, film-maker
conferences, concerts, art openings, and other multi-media
events. Artists from all over the world will convene for this event,
and audiences of every demographic will be inspired by the breath
of fresh air circulated in to the independent artists community.
Much more than a once a year event, the Atlanta Underground Film
Festival is a year long promotional tool for talented artists, and the
companies which serve them.
