[ 5:20PM ] [ mccaleb ] [ Election ]

Someone once said, "Democracy is being allowed to vote for the
candidate you dislike least." That surely applies in 2004. And that
venerable statesman, the late Sir Winston Churchill, offered his
opinion thusly: "The best argument against democracy is a five minute
conversation with the average voter."

Well here is an update on the Haunted House remember next Saturday we have both the Haunted House and a AWA/IWF-TN Wrestling Show in Livingston.

Here are the frightening totals 2 - pissers 1 - vomit 2- broke into tears 3 - unable to finish the house 1 - made it to the entrance and turned back 5 ran out headed for their cars 3 of those passed up cars and looked for an alternate plan of escape 1 - person lost a shoe we are still holding the shoe.

Crowd totals are good for the first year and everyone seems to be enjoying the house several people have been thru twice even though we have been open only three nights.

We are open tonight at 6pm and stop selling tickets at 10pm then every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday thru and including Halloween.

Many people have said this is better then the slaughter house. George " Monkey " Furman and others from the Old Fright Factory came in for a visit and they were given the VIP tour. ALL were pleased with our efforts. George took pictures so depending on his schedule they should be on the website at www.geocities.com/horrorhollow soon.

Stop by and volunteer or pay $ 8.00 and take the tour. Have a Happy Halloween and see you at the house and of course see you in Livingston at the AWA/IWF-TN Show.

[ 6:30PM ] [ monkey ] [ Rural Route Film Festival ]

The Legend of Crazy George has applied to:

The Rural Route Film Festival has been created to highlight works that deal with rural people and places. While the term "rural" is defined by Webster's Dictionary as: 1) Of or relating to the country: RUSTIC 2) Of or relating to people who live in the country 3) Of or relating to farming: AGRICULTURAL, the creators of Rural Route Film Festival leave it up to you, the film and video artists, to explain your own definition of "rural." Whether it be a documentary about an organic turnip farm in West Virginia, a fictional backpacking drama set in Peru, or a personal/experimental work about life in a small town in Wisconsin, we want to see and hear what you have to say. Works that include alternative country, country western, and folk music are encouraged, as are those that play loud rock in cornfields.

This web site is worth hitting for the $12 (includes postage & handling) black T-shirt with a sketch of a white tractor. Text: Rural Route Films.

The 12th New York Underground Film Festival

What is 'Underground'?
We believe that's something best left for filmmakers to answer for themselves. When selecting films for exhibition, we seek to go beyond what mainstream venues show to present works of an innovative, experimental, subversive, uncompromising, and adventurous nature. The NYUFF exists to support and promote films that push boundaries and break new ground -- that challenge, entertain and provoke.

[ 10:37AM ] [ monkey ] [ A Great Victory And Omen From The Gods ]

A Great Victory And Omen From The Gods

On a Redneck Safari into the mountains of North Carolina I took refuge at a campground near the Cherokee reservation. I stopped at the Robbinsville BP Quick Mark, it’s a place where they sell live bait and an woman in her after-church dress offers brochures to join the Army. In the cooler at the back of the store I found six bottles of GRAPE NEHI! Somehow the Grape Nehi must have retreated into the mountains during the corporate raid, much the way the Cherokee did when Andrew Jackson’s boys came looking. It was a glorious day, I tell you! The Nehi had that old time taste, not too much sugar and not too fierce a carbonated fizz. A Glorious Nehi day!

The Legend of Crazy George has applied to:

3rd Annual Independent Film Festival of Boston
April 21-24, 2005

On April 21, 2005, the third-annual Independent Film Festival of Boston (IFFB) kicks off its four-day celebration with lines of enthusiastic film fans wrapping around historic and independent theaters in Greater Boston day and night. Plenty of buzz will be generated around this collection of new independent films with coverage in the Boston Globe, ads on the subway, and posters covering the city.

The bustle and energy continues all weekend long as 20,000 attendees watch over 100 screenings unspool at venues like the Somerville Theater (five screens), the Brattle Theater (one screen), and the Coolidge Corner Theater (three screens). Each day filmmakers participate in post-screening Q&As, and each night, All-Access Pass holders, VIPs, and filmmakers mingle, drink and groove well past midnight at IFFB parties held in swanky Boston nightspots. And when the evenings finally wind down, filmmakers enjoy accommodations courtesy of sponsor hotels like Nine Zero (www.ninezero.com) and Hotel Marlowe (www.hotelmarlowe.com).

"I think your passion and enthusiasm will go a long way towards making your festival one to watch. Best wishes in the years to come." – Ondi Timoner, Director, DiG!

“Definitely one of the best-run festivals I have been to. Most are slap-dash efforts. IFFB seemed to have been at it for years.” – Bob Odenkirk, Director, Melvin Goes To Dinner

"Your festival was well programmed, well attended and well planned.” – Sarah Eaton, Sundance Channel

"I was really impressed with IFFB. The festival is one of the most filmmaker-friendly festivals I've ever attended. The staff were always attentive, and made sure that everything went smoothly, and people went home happy." – Aaron Matthews, Director, A Panther in Africa
